How to play
Solitaire on Matsuri is free online Klondike solitaire, the classic patience card game, played turn one (draw 1) or turn three (draw 3) with unlimited passes, and every deal is checked to be winnable before you see it. It runs in any browser on phone or desktop and inside Telegram via @MatsuriGamesBot, with no download. Everyone gets the same daily deal, and a challenge link hands a friend your exact deal to beat.
This is classic Klondike solitaire (patience) with unlimited passes through the stock. In practice you pick draw one (a card at a time) or draw three (three at a time, and only the top one plays); the daily deal is always draw one. Build the four foundations up from ace to king by suit, and build the seven columns down in alternating colours; only a king may fill an empty column. Drag cards, or just tap one and it jumps to the best place (its foundation first). Every deal is checked before you see it: a solver proves it can be won, and simply following the hints wins it too. If you do play into a dead end, the table tells you and offers to rewind to the nearest position that can still be won. Each card on a foundation scores 10; a win adds 500 and up to 300 more for finishing in few moves (the deal's par), while each undo costs 20, a rewind out of a dead end 50 however far it goes, and each pass through the stock after the first (after the third in draw three) 10. The daily deal is the same for everyone, so you can rank on the leaderboard or send a friend the very same deal.

How to play Solitaire
A standard 52-card deck is dealt into seven columns of one to seven cards, only the top card of each face up; the other 24 wait in the stock. The goal is to move all 52 to the four foundations, one per suit, built up from ace to king. Columns build down in alternating colours, a red six on a black seven, and a face-up run moves as one if its first card fits. Only a king, or a run headed by one, may fill an empty column. A hidden card turns over by itself once uncovered, and a card can come back down from a foundation.
Tapping the stock draws one card, or three in draw three, where they fan out on the waste and only the top one can be played until it moves; when the stock runs out, a tap turns the waste over, as often as you like. Once every card is face up, a button finishes for you. A stuck player can hand the game in with the cards already home counted.
Each card on a foundation scores 10. A win adds 500 plus a tidiness bonus of up to 300, which drops by 2 for every move past the deal's par. Each undo costs 20, a rewind out of a dead end 50, and each pass through the stock after the first (after the third in draw three) 10. A win never scores below 600.
Solitaire strategy and tips
- Look at the columns before you touch the stock. Turning over a hidden card, above all in the tallest column on the right, opens more of the game than any card you can draw.
- Do not rush every card to the foundations. Aces and twos are always safe to send up, but a black five may still be needed to hold a red four from a column, so play mid-rank cards up only when both cards that could sit on them are already home.
- When a column empties, check which kings are waiting and what each one leads to. A red king is worth more if a black queen is free to join it, so choose the king whose run you can extend at once.
- The hint is free: press H or pause and the next good move glows. Par counts every move, draws included. In a dead end the table offers a rewind, a flat 50 however far back, which is cheaper than three undos at 20 each.
Modes and difficulty
The daily deal is the same for everyone and changes at 00:00 UTC; only your first try counts on the daily leaderboard. Practice deals a fresh, equally winnable game whenever you want. After any game you can send it as a challenge, and your friend plays the very same deal with your score as the target. Practice has a switch above Play for draw one or draw three (turn one or turn 3, as many call them), remembered for next time; the daily deal is always draw one, and a challenge plays your friend's deal with the same draw. Passes through the stock are unlimited in both.
Playing Solitaire on Matsuri
A deal is kept only if a solver proves a win and simply following the in-game hint wins it too, so the natural line never walks into a trap. Solitaire takes its turn hosting the weekly Matsuri Cup, where your best practice score that week counts and the top ten win candy and a cup badge. Scores are recomputed on the server from your moves, and Telegram groups get their own ranking.
A little history
Klondike is usually said to take its name from the gold rush in Canada's Yukon at the end of the 1890s, and in Britain the game is often simply called Patience. It became the most familiar card game on Earth after Microsoft shipped it with Windows 3.0 in 1990, where dragging cards also helped many people get used to a mouse.

Questions
- Can I play Klondike solitaire free online without downloading?
- Yes. It is free and runs in any browser on phone or desktop with no download and no sign-up, and you can also play it inside Telegram through @MatsuriGamesBot. There are no ads.
- Is every solitaire deal winnable?
- Yes. Before you see a deal, a solver proves it can be won, and simply following the in-game hints wins it too. If you still play into a dead end, the game tells you and offers to rewind to the nearest position that can be won, for 50 points.
- Is it draw 1 or draw 3?
- Both. In practice you pick draw 1 or draw 3 above the Play button; the daily deal is always draw 1. Passes through the stock are unlimited: in draw 1 every pass after the first costs 10 points, in draw 3 every pass after the third, so the fewer times you go round, the better your score.
- How do the daily deal and the leaderboard work?
- Everyone plays the same deal each day and ranks on the daily leaderboard: 10 points per card on a foundation, 500 for a win and up to 300 more for finishing close to the deal's par. The server checks every score by replaying your moves, and you can send a friend the exact same deal as a challenge.
